One of our regular clients - Quip Network (Postquant Labs), a high-growth blockchain infrastructure company, sought a Lead Protocol Engineer to architect and implement a novel multi-chain network with shared security. This role required deep expertise in consensus mechanisms (particularly the HotStuff family), peer-to-peer networking, and threshold cryptography

Unlike conventional smart contract roles, this position demanded strong mechanical sympathy - the ability to optimise systems at the level of CPU cache, memory-mapped I/O, and disk storage

The ideal candidate profile included:
- 8+ years of experience in distributed systems or protocol engineering
- Advanced proficiency in Rust or Go for high-performance systems
- Hands-on experience building or modifying blockchain clients (e.g., Substrate, Reth, Geth)
- Proven ability to solve complex low-level challenges (e.g., garbage collection, DAG traversal)
- Availability to operate in a fast-paced, zero-to-one MVP environment
